„Mein Hals ist dünner als ein Haar“ ist eine fortschreitende Untersuchung von The Atlas Group über den Gebrauch von Autobomben in den Libanon-Kriegen von 1975 bis 1991. Mit diesem Projekt erforscht The Atlas Group die vielfältigen Dimensionen der Kriegshandlungen und untersucht die öffentlichen und privaten Ereignisse, Diskurse, Objekte und Erfahrungen im Zusammenhang mit den 245 Autobomben, die während dieser Zeitspanne explodierten. Die hier gezeigten Dokumente sind ein Teil dieser Untersuchung.
Der einzige Teil, der nach der Detonation einer Autobombe ganz bleibt, ist der Motor. Er landet auf Balkonen, auf Dächern oder in Nebenstraßen, zwischen zehn und manchmal hundert Metern vom Explosionsort der Bombe entfernt. Während der Kriege wetteiferten Fotoreporter darum, der erste am Fundort zu sein und den Motor zu fotografieren.
Es folgen 100 Fotografien von Bildjournalisten, die von Walid Raad in den Archiven des An-Nahar Research Center und The Arab Documentation Center, beide in Beirut, Libanon, gefunden wurden.
The Arab Group ist ein Projekt, das 1999 in Beirut gegründet wurde, um die zeitgenössische Geschichte des Libanon zu erforschen und zu archivieren. The Atlas Group sucht, konserviert, studiert und produziert Dokumente aller Art (audio, visuell, literarisch und anderes), die Licht auf diese Geschichte werfen können. Die Dokumente werden aufbewahrt in The Atlas Group Archive in Beirut und New York. Das Archivmaterial ist in drei Ablagekategorien unterteilt: Type A (einer identifizierten Person zuschreibbar), Type FD (found documents = gefundene Dokumente); Typ AGP (Material von The Atlas Group).

My Neck Is Thinner Than A Hair is an on-going investigation by The Atlas Group about the use of car bombs in the 1975-1991 Lebanese wars. With this project, The Atlas Group examines the multiple dimensions of the wars and investigates the public and private events, discourses, objects, and experiences surrounding the 245 car bombs that were detonated during this period. The documents presented here are one part of this investigation.

The only part that remains intact after a car bomb explodes is the engine. Landing on balconies, roofs or adjacent streets, the engine is projected tens and sometimes hundreds of meters away from the original site of the bomb. During these wars, photojournalists competed to be the first to find and photograph the engines.

The following are 100 photographs produced by photojournalists and found by Walid Raad in the archives of An-Nahar Research Center (Beirut, Lebanon) and The Arab Documentation Center (Beirut, Lebanon).

The Atlas Group is a project established in Beirut in 1999 to research and document the contemporary history of Lebanon. The Atlas Group locates, preserves, studies and produces audio, visual, literary and other documents that shed light on this history. The documents are preserved in The Atlas Group Archive which is located in Beirut and New York. The archive is organized in three file categories: Type A (attributed to an identified individual); Type FD (found documents); Type AGP (attributed to The Atlas Group).
